I saw this in 2004. Reindeer herders (Khanty and Mansi local native peoples) killed the deer and ate it raw. That year, I walked about 700 km on the most unpopulated parts of the European part of Eurasia. It was a mountain hike. The complete absence of settlements. Reindeer herders in the Urals lead a nomadic lifestyle. They spend 11 months a year in the mountains and taiga. In everyday life, they use their own products. People have shepherd deer since from the 17th century till now.
